Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishugiteru

The Liar and His Lover is a movie from Japan based on manga (anime) with the same title. This is one of my favorite Japanese movie, and I’ve watched it for many times. If you're a movie addict and loves romantic genre, I recommend this movie so much! You'll fell into it!

  The story is about the man named AKI, a member of popular band “Crude Play”. But right after decides to make their major record debut in music industry, AKI quits the band and become a song writer in Crude Play’s new album, INSECTICIDE. One day, he met a high school girl named Riko who loves singing so much. They met inaccidentaly. When AKI was stand and whistling near the river, Riko who ride a bike suddenly stopped and listen to his whistle. She enjoyed it and unconsciously drop her bike right in front of him. She confessed him that she really likes to listen him hum. Soon, they started dating.

At first AKI has no feelings to Riko. He’s dating Riko just for fun, because he want to escape from his daily activities as a sound engineer. AKI hiding his true identity from Riko. He even give her a fake name, Shinya. He doesn’t want Riko (who also a big fans of Crude Play) to know that he’s a part of that band too. So Riko know him as Shinya, not AKI. Despite Riko doesn’t know about AKI’s background, but she trust him and still loves him, no matter what and who he truly is. Their relationship become closer, until that day comes. Riko has finally found the truth about her boyfriend. She got upset because the man she dating with is nothing but a liar. Riko taught that all about him is a lie, even his feelings towards her. Then she decides to broke up with him.

One day, Riko an her band make their major debut under the same management with Crude Play. AKI watched their promotional video (PV) on a big screens and feels bad to seeing her again. He wants to make a song for Riko. It used to be him, not other people. He finally realize how much he loves Riko. But it’s late, they’re already broke up. AKI got desperated. He wanted to ran away and decides to go abroad. Before that, he finished all songs for Crude Play’s next album and created a new song for Riko, then sending the CD into the producer. But before sending it, the CD has been stolen and has sent to Riko first. Riko listen to the song who made for her. She cried a lot. She realized that although AKI is a liar, but AKI’s feelings towards her isn’t a lie. It’s true, not fake or camuflage. Riko gave up, she just waiting if a miracle happens.

The day after, she held a concert with her band. She hopes AKI was there, but she can’t see him anywhere. Right after the concert, AKI secretly saw Riko plays a guitar alone. He comes closer and say “the song isn’t like that, you can’t play my song with that bad melody”. Riko was shocked, but she’s smiling and asked him how to plays it correctly. Then AKI took a bass and sing the song together. Both of them finally realized that they still love each other, and still want to make a beautiful melodies together.
